Who are we?
We (Craig and Sam) have always been keen, if very average, sportsmen. Based in London, in our dream world, we would play 5 aside on a Monday, tennis on a Tuesday, padel on a Thursday and golf on the weekend; all against a diverse range of opponents who roughly match our own ability.
Regrettably, now firmly in our thirties, we have jobs and responsibilities (well Craig does at least) and as our friends have slowly dispersed all over the country, even keeping up one sport on a regular basis has become an ever growing challenge. We’ve joined sports clubs, entered leagues, organised weekly matches; all to keep the passion alive.
But what if, we asked ourselves, the time spent chasing ringers or slowly working our way up the local tennis league (only to be relegated again when we miss a fixture), could be avoided? What if there was a way to move cities and jump straight back into a sporting community? What if we no longer had to rely on each other to get our weekly fix of squash?
We wracked our brains and came up with the answer - Contendo, and here is how.
Step 1 - share
The first version of Contendo is build around three key features, all created so that amateur sportspeople can see where, what and who their friends are playing and never miss an opportunity to find their next match.
Record a sporting activity in real time or post-match – currently tennis, padel, badminton, table tennis, squash, darts and pool (with golf, pickleball and more coming soon)
Share your matches and follow friends’ activities on the sports feed.
Track your performance with personalised Contendo rankings, head-to-head analysis, and match history.
Step 2 - communities
From this, we want to build out features to enhance the community experience, so that users can:
Compete in leagues, tournaments, and join local sports communities to expand their network and find new opponents.
Discover nearby sports venues, events, clubs, coaches and active groups.
Step 3 - any sport, any where
We will then make sure team sports are integrated into the app, allowing users to:
Find local teams and leagues to join and keep track of stats, whether goals scored at 5 aside football match or your batting average
Share the games in real-time with advanced scoring and video technology.
